VariableCallerName

What can I do here?
In the routing, it's possible to manipulate the caller name - the name of the caller that the called person sees on their screen. It's possible to add text in front of it or replace the text.
Fields
- Click on add within the dial plan.
- Select the variable caller name as the next step
- Then choose how the caller name manipulation should be done. This can be done in the following ways:
- Prefix: fill in a text in the text field in the routing step that will be placed before the caller name
- Replace: fill in a text in the text field in the routing step: this will now be the caller name
- Within a substep of HTTP routing, it's also possible to select a third option - Webhooks. In that case, the caller name is set to the value returned by the HTTP routing.
Screenshot
In the example below, calls are first routed to the VoIP account 'phone1'. After 8 seconds, the call is forwarded to VoIP account 'phone2', where the caller name is prefixed with 'phone1', so that the recipient of phone2 can see that the call was originally routed to phone1.
Other examples could be: A customer has two product lines and uses two different phone numbers for them. By using a Variable Caller name "product line 1" and "product line 2" in the dial plan, the employee answering the call knows which product line the caller is calling for. This function can also be used with menu options, so that the employee knows which option the caller has chosen (e.g., menu options for languages).
