Telephone nuisance
Content
Are you as a customer being bothered by someone calling you? Annoying, your provider can help you stop this. Please keep in mind that due to privacy legislation, your provider will never reveal an unknown number to you as a customer. It's also good to be aware of the following:
Call centers call you on behalf of companies to make telephone offers. Sometimes they use calling computers, which may result in you receiving an incoming call but hearing nothing. If you don't want to be called by call centers and calling computers, you can register with the Do Not Call Registry. The Do Not Call Registry is only for natural persons. These are consumers and certain businesses such as general partnerships, professional partnerships, and sole proprietorships. A Limited Company, Corporation, or other legal entity cannot block phone numbers.
Filter groups
If the telephone nuisance is coming from a known number, the first step is to call the number back yourself. If you make contact with the caller, you can make an urgent request to stop calling. If it's an anonymous number or the nuisance doesn't stop, you can do the following:
Filtering known numbers
It's possible to filter known numbers. Create a FilterGroup in the online admin environment and add the number from which the telephone nuisance is coming. Add the filter group to the dial plan to route calls from this number to a chosen final destination, message, or something similar.
Filtering anonymous numbers
It's possible to filter anonymous numbers. Create a FilterGroup in the online admin environment and select the 'anonymous number' checkbox. Add the filter group to the dial plan to route anonymous calls to a chosen final destination, message, or something similar.
Still experiencing nuisance?
Experience shows that it often doesn't go beyond the steps above. Further steps may include filing a complaint for stalking, but this is very dependent on the specific situation. It's advisable in such a situation to contact your provider who can provide further support.
