General VoIP trunks details

Introduction

Besides VoIP accounts, you can also use a trunk account. Below you'll find the general settings. For creating an account, you can go here.

In the portal, the trunk account details can be found under the VoIP-trunk section. This list includes, among others, the names and account IDs. The account ID and password are needed to register the VoIP trunk in the PBX. Phone numbers are not used for registrations.

Trunk settings

• Registration server/proxy server/domain/host = ha.voys.nl
• Username/Account ID/authentication name = <Account ID> from the online environment
• Password = <Password> from the online environment
• Register string = <account id>:<password>@ha.voys.nl/<account id>
• Type = Friend
• Insecure = invite
• DDI format = Complete number with plus (+31501234567)
• CLI format = Dutch long-distance number (0501234567)
• Preferred registration interval: 1800 seconds
• DNS SRV (RFC 3263): Yes
• PRACK support: No
• Send session refresh (RFC 4028): No
• Preferred codec: G711a, G722
• Transport protocol: UDP or TCP (preferred)
• Identity: PPI
• PPI/PAI header: CLIP
• Call transfer method: Re-invite or REFER
• Use destination URL from: Request line
• Music on hold signaling: Auto or RFC 3264

SIP Proxy

All new VoIP accounts and trunks register by default on the SIP proxy. This has the advantage that SIP traffic goes over port 6060 instead of 5060. The proxy also provides a high availability (HA) setup.

Outbound rules

For redundancy, we have our equipment in 2 locations: Amsterdam and Groningen. If for any reason one location goes offline, the other location can take over and you can continue making and receiving calls. These locations can be individually reached at:

sipproxy.grq.voys.nl

It can be useful to include these separately in your PBX configuration. If one of these locations is offline, the PBX can still attempt to deliver the call to the other location.
