With the Variable Callername option, you can send a name to your VoIP phone. The Variable Callername is useful when you receive calls from different companies/phone numbers or when you want to see which option someone has selected in your menu. In the latter case, you add the Variable Callername after the choice in your menu.
Adding Variable Callername to Dial plan.
- Log in to Freedom.
- Click on Dial plans.
- Click on your phone number.
- Click on Modify Dial plan.
- Above your VoIP account, user or Call group, click on add step.
- Select Variable Callername.

- You can choose between Prefix or Replace.
- With Replace, you will only send the text of the Variable Callername.
- With Prefix, in addition to the text of the Variable Callername, the customer's phone number will also be sent.
- Click on Save Changes.
- Click on Save.
Don't make the Variable Callername too long, as there's only space for a limited number of characters on your screen. Choose an abbreviation or part of the company name as shown in the example below.
With the Webphone, you will always see the text + the phone number, regardless of which option you use.
